Frequently Asked Questions

For added convenience, our dental team here in Olean has compiled a list of the questions we hear from patients most often below, as well as their answers. If, after reading below, you still don’t see the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. We would be happy to discuss the matter with you.

How often should I be visiting the dentist?

In most cases, our team members will recommend that you schedule checkups and cleanings twice each year, or once per six months on average. By coming in to see us at regular intervals, we will be able to keep a close eye on your oral health and pinpoint any problems as soon as they arise. Sometimes, Dr. Daugherty suggests more frequent appointments if a patient needs a little extra help maintaining a healthy smile.

Do you see children?

Yes. Dr. Daugherty has experience with treating all age groups, and he enjoys being able to make dental care convenient for whole families by seeing everyone in one convenient location. Our variety of available services has something for everyone, including several kid-friendly options that will help little smiles get started on the right path early on.

What is the best way to replace my missing teeth?

While no one treatment can be the perfect choice for every single patient in need, Dr. Daugherty regularly recommends dental implants as the premier reconstructive solution. Because they rebuild the entire structure of a natural tooth – including the root underneath the gum line – the results are incredibly lifelike, highly functional, and durable enough that they can last for the rest of the patient’s life.

My tooth is really hurting. What’s the problem?

If you have already ruled out the possibility of something stuck between the teeth, it is probably best that we see you for a limited exam. Toothaches can be caused by numerous reasons from infection to a fractured root. Do not hesitate to contact our practice right away for assistance!

Do you see dental emergencies?

We do. Our team will find time to fit in patients of record if they call with a serious dental injury and/or pain, and we strive to see new patients too as soon as our schedule allows it. We never want to leave anyone in pain!

Can you improve the way my smile looks?

Absolutely. Dr. Daugherty offers several cosmetic services that are designed to elevate the appearance of your teeth and erase any frustrating flaws, including teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and direct bonding.

Will you take my insurance?

Our practice is in-network with some major plans and we are happy to file claims for others in order to make the financial aspects of your appointment as stress-free as possible. For more information, please visit our new patients page.
